Anyway... I've been running Adobe CS4 for several years with no issues. I recently discovered some old updates for Premiere, which I downloaded and installed without a hitch. I use Soundbooth for my audio work, so I looked for updates for that, too. Found one, downloaded, installed... and now SB won't boot up. Multiple errors. Have tried many fixes. Rolled back my machine to earlier setup. All other CS4 stuff works, just not SB. Thought I'd just try re-installing it since I still had the files on the hard drive (install stuff), and it gets to "preparing to install" and never gets past it.

    Error messages:
"Soundbooth could not find any capable video playback modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again. If this does not resolve the problem, please contact Adobe technical support. [Error: NV_OGL]
(Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS is updated and there is no other card in my machine. There was no conflict with this card until now. Also: why does audio software care about my video card?!)

"The procedure entry point IPPMPEGDecoder_GetAudioSyncCodes could not be located in the dynamic link library IPPMPEGDecoder.dll"

    and...

"The procedure entry point ??0CriticalSectionLock@ASL@@QAE@ABVCriticalSection@1@PBD@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library ASLFoundation.dll"

Yes, I tried Microsoft's DLL repair tool and got the "couldn't fix some issues" result. The manual fix looks kind of complex, but I guess I could have a go if I have to.

This is all very frustrating. I produce two podcasts and am about to download CS2 just so I can keep things running.

Anybody else slip on this banana peel?

    Thanks in advance.

...annnnnd, nobody can download CS2 anymore because apparently Adobe wants everybody to be happy cloud users. Argh. I don't want to operate in "the cloud". I want my old (literally) Adobe products that have heretofore worked great for me even when I don't have internet access.

Your best option is to contact Adobe Technical Support. But, don't hold your breath.
Rather look around for Adobe Audition. Version 4 is the last to be offered as a standalone product. I installed version 1 that was released in 2003 in Windows 7.
