advanced curve fitting function

a friend of mine is fooling around with an idea of his, and hes at a stand still since hes not into very advanced programming.

what we're looking to do is find an existing program (or someone that can make one) that will assign functions to MANY differeny curves in one large array, like a WAV file.

we are currently using MATLAB and can open the wav file in its own double array, and are trying to fit bits of functions to the different points that the audio file creates. the output file would have some millions of partial functions that would match the graph of the input wav file.


if anyone knows of something that could do this, it would really help
