After DirectX install...no sound???

    Ever since I installed DirectX My sound doesnt work, I have reinstalled all my sound card drivers again and again. When I go to device manager and choose properties this is what it says: The NTKKERN>VXD, MMDEVLDR.VXD device loader could not load this device (Code 2)

    I have read that DirectX not installing properly can cause this, did you update via Windows Update? Either way, try downloading the full DirectX and reinstalling that.

    I downloaded via windows but I just did a search there for DirectX..then when I got it I wasn't absolutely sure I had the right one...but I downloaded the whole thing to my desktop and installed. I'm not so sure I really need DirectX anyhow but I cant find an uninstall file. I'd rather have sound than DirectX
