Please read the announcement and sticky threads. HJT logs should only be posted when requested. They are normally only reqested after standard cleaning procedures are first followed. Also, you must exit browsers before you use HijackThis. Please run the steps below.

    - First disable SpybotSD's TeaTimer as it can get in the way of fixing problems. To disable TeaTimer, run Spybot and click Mode and select Advanced Mode. Then click Tools and select Resident. Now in the right window pane, uncheck TeaTimer.
Also while this is open, in the left column now select IE Tweaks and then in the right pane make sure all the Miscellaneous locks are unchecked.
    Now quit Spybot!

    - Look in Add/Remove Programs for Media Access and uninstall if found.

    - download Nail/Bolder/Aurora Remover 0.3.1 Beta and save it to its own folder like c:\ABIremover

    - Now extract the abiremover.exe file from the ZIP file into the folder you created but do not run the EXE yet. We will run it later.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Now while still in safe mode, run the abiremover.exe but make sure you are physically disconnected from the internet (unplug your cable to be sure). Just click install, wait (explorer window will disapear)

    - When abiremover finishes just reboot into normal and continue with the below steps.

Also download HOSTER and then follow the below steps.
    • Unzip Hoster to a convenient folder such as C:\Hoster
    • Run Hoster.exe, click Restore Original Hosts and then click OK.
    • Click the X to exit the program
    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
Also to get you started and to reduce the size of your HJT log. Do the following:

Also look in Add/Remove programs for Internet2 Optimizer and uninstall if found.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem, boot into normal mode and make sure you follow these directions:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

    Questions:

    1) Is the below your expected Start Page:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.squidhost.com/support

    2) Did you download the below control? It is not a normal item to have in this location.
    O16 - DPF: {F9043C85-F6F2-101A-A3C9-08002B2F49FB} (Microsoft Common Dialog Control, version 6.0) - file://C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Javathing\program\comdlg32.cab

Okie, I did all the steps.

I ran the online virus scanner and stinger and I got some virus entries in my Macromedia Flash folder, I can't remember what it was (there was 20 files)...

    CCleaner removed the files.

Adware removed some stuff. Spybot found elitexxb32 but it still seems to be on my computer. CWShredder and kill2me didn't fnid anythnig.

I installed the abiremover, and I did the Hoster thing.

I didn't find any of those programs to remove that you mentioned (Media Access, Internet2 Optimizer, etc...)

    --

The elitexxb32 thingy is still on my computer I believe, and I'm getting popups like ever 5 minutes. Also when I boot my computer I get an error message, but I think it's trying to load something but the file's been deleted or a program is blocking it.

It seems like everytime I run adware and spybot, it finds the same thing everytime. I don't know what's wrong.

    I attached the hjtlog.

    An answer to your questions...

    1. yes, that was the homepage. I changed the homepage to google. It kept getting to set to .....\xx.html (I believe it's elitexxb32...)

    2. I've never seen it in my life.

I asked you to disable Spybot's Teatimer in my previous message. You did not do that yet. Please do it now and let me know when you have.

I still confused by your answer to the start page question because you said you want google. Keep the answer to a single word (Yes or No). Do you want the next line to be your Start Page?

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.squidhost.com/support

Please stop using msconfig to disable startup items. In order to fix you problems, I need to be able to see everything that may load. Run msconfig and select Normal Startup.

Now reboot and post a new log. There are still a bunch of things to fix but I need the above to be done first.

Both Bearshare and Ares are known to contain malware. You should uninstall both of them. And programs like this do not typically need to run at startup either.
    C:\Program Files\BearShare\BearShare.exe
    C:\Program Files\BearShare\BearShare.exe
    C:\Program Files\Ares\Ares.exe

Why is the below running and why is it running three times?
    C:\Program Files\Pixoria\Konfabulator\Konfabulator.exe
    C:\Program Files\Pixoria\Konfabulator\Konfabulator.exe
    C:\Program Files\Pixoria\Konfabulator\Konfabulator.exe

Look in Add/Remove Programs for the below two items and uninstall if found:
    WeatherCast
    WebHancer

If you are using WinXP or WinMe, make sure you have system restore disabled (per the tutorial).
For all OS types, make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Please run HijackThis and click on the "Open the Misc Tools Section" button on the open page. Then select "Open process manager" on the left-hand side. Look for the following process (or processes) and one at a time kill them by selecting it and then click "Kill process". Then click yes.
    C:\WINDOWS\stubinstaller4292.exe
After killing all the above processes, click "Back".

Then please click "Scan" and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    R3 - URLSearchHook: IncrediFindBHO Class - {0199DF25-9820-4bd5-9FEE-5A765AB4371E} - C:\PROGRA~1\INCRED~1\BHO\INCFIN~2.DLL (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete:
    c:\windows\system32\deqq <-- the whole folder
    C:\Program Files\Media Access <-- the whole folder
    C:\Program Files\webHancer <--- the whole folder
    C:\Program Files\WeatherCast <--- the whole folder
    C:\Program Files\Common files\updmgr <--- the whole folder
    C:\WINDOWS\stubinstaller4292.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\seeve.exe
    C:\windows\system32\msnmsgrsc.exe
C:\windows\system32\elitexxb32.exe <--- also look for and delete other files that begin with elite and end in exe. There can sometimes be as many as ten of them.

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST). Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.

Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log. And tell us how things are working.
