Okay, the San Diego has the 1MB L2 cache.

It is worth the extra $100 to go from a 3700+ to a 4000+ even though they both have the 1MB L2 cache?

The clock speeds are 2.2 and 2.4GHz respectively.

Also you can get an AMD socket 754 3000+ mobile that has a 1MB cache for around $125 OEM. How will this compare to a 939 Venice 3000+?

Is there any compatibility issues with it being a mobile processor as far as the heatsink? And it is cheaper.. Just wondering if 754 is limited in any way... I have heard that dual channel doesn't work on a socket 754 board.. But there are some boards that allow for both a 754 and 939 in case you want to upgrade.

    What do you guys think?

Just get the 3700+ and OC it if you feel the need for more power...

Socket 754 doesn't allow for dual channel memory.

Socket 939 Revison E cpus (venice) allow for full Dual channel DDR 400 (on all 4 dimms).

This is for a client.. Just going to run at stock speeds. The 4000+ is more of a "it looks and sounds cool." You know what I mean.
