Anti-spam software for server

Anyone know any good anti-spam software to run on 2003 Server and Exchange? It would be for around 400 users. We are currently running Symantec Mail Security for MS Exchange but its not working the way we want it. Specifically we'd want a program that would allow us to add terms to a whitelist (not just domains like SMSME does).

    Thanks in advance!

A nice thing about postini, is that your mail actually hits there server first, quartine spams + virus emails, then goes to your server, this cuts out a lot of crap hitting your actual server. This had cut are server from running at 85 percent cpu to around 30 percent. Very awesome software.

How is postini at managing whitelists and blacklists? And false positives?

Postini is awesome at all mentioned, has a website you can use to view quartined messages, black list by address and domain, same for whitelisting. As far as false postives, we have had very few, and a simple check of the postini inbox allows you to whitelist and deliver current message really quick. Its super awesome, very nice management system. It does cost a fair amount, but imho you get what you pay for.

You should try GFI MailEssentials. According to CheckMark, it removes at least 98 per cent of all spam received and extremely low false positives reported. You can find the trial version here: www.gfi.com/mes. It is geared towards SMBs, so 400 users should not be a problem. Hope that helps.

GFI is a great company, one of the ones we demoed, but in the end liked postinis management side more. Also we demoed a http://www.barracudanetworks.com product, but couldn't get it to deliver the results postini had delivered no matter how much config/setup we did. In the end due to customer complaints we went back to postini.

Postini definately seems the way to go. Symantec could learn a thing or two from them IMO. Thanks for the help again guys!

    One more thing...

Has anyone had any experience with the anti-spam service that Microsoft offers (the name escapes me ATM)? Is it any good?

We have an excellent antispam/antivirus for e-mail applications. But you must be able to modify your MX records. www.think-antispam.com
