    My internet providers (EastLink) will not load .
    I tried loading AVG and uninstalling the eastlink version.
    AVG will not load and eastlink will not uninstall.
    I refered to a similar problem on the forum page .
    I have run AVPfind.bat
    and exehelper
    I have attached the logs of avp and exehelper.
    I have run the online version of Super anti spyware and removed and rebooted the computer.
    I have tried to run MGTools as per the forum .
    I got to- DisableUAC.reg ran it and
    Rebooted the computer.
    When i attemped to- GetLogs.bat all that happens is the dos screen appears for an instant and dissapears .
    I had MGTools from a former problem and I am unsure what to do as too many attempts may cause more problems ???
    Some guidance for a two finger typer would be greatly appreciated.
    I have enough knowledge to be dangerous to any computer's health but not enough to wipe it's nose if it has a virus !!!!

    Regarding my problem re my virus protection will not load .
    As a note what ever is in the machine will not let me run Spy Bot or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
    I ran Super anti spyware and removed and rebooted the computer again and will attach the results .
    Tried to rum MGTools - it opens and a folder- MGtools but there is no MGTools Zip file .
    Hopefully this will help ??
    Thanks

    Download and save this XPsp3bu.exe to your C:\ root folder. You must do this properly. Now run the XPsp2bu.exe program by double clicking on it. You may or may not notice a quick flash of a black window. This is normal. The program runs quickly and just extracts some files we need.

    Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract+ avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * -Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

  4. dbleslie

    Ran the items you listed .
    I am attaching the files.
    You asked for the MGlogs.zip and comboFixtxt (should this be Avenger.txt ?)
    Should I download and run combofix?
    Thanks

    Sorry...typo.

    Now we have a little more to do.

    Two things I don't know about, I am putting them in the fix, but if you know what they are and are safe, remove them from the fix:
    C:\Program Files\CARIS
    C:\Program Files\RBSUGC

    Now let's use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    File::
    C:\WINDOWS\win32k.sys
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ESQULzxspectrum

    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt --> yes, I mean Combo..LOL

    Right click ComboFix on your desktop and chose to delete it. Then run CCleaner to remove any leftovers. Then redownload Combo and try running the fix I gave you.

    If you have no idea what those two files are, then leave them in the fix.

    The blue box opened the program started and then a box opened with

    Now there are things to do still>

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
    to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * -Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    Good...now let's just do a little clean up before I give you the final instructions.

    Now to be sure:
    Open notepad and copy and paste the following text in the quote box into the window:
    Save this as fix.bat on your desktop.
    Choose to save as all files.
    Doubleclick fix.bat and let the program run.
    A small black dos window will flash, this is normal.

    Now use windows explorer to find and delete:
    C:\Program Files\eastlinkinternetsecurityservices\Anti-Virus

    Now please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. This program does not require an installation. The executable actually runs the program.

    NOTE: This program is for Windows XP and Windows 2000 only. ATF Cleaner will remove all files from the items that are checked so if you have some cookies you'd like to save. Please move them to a different directory first.

    * Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    * Under Main choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.

    If you use Firefox browser

    * Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.
    o NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

    If you use Opera browser

    * Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.
    o NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

    Click Exit on the Main ATF Cleaner menu to close the program.

    Note: On Vista, "Windows Temp" is disabled. To empty "Windows Temp" ATF-Cleaner must be "Run as an Administrator".

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now! Tell me what issues you may still be having!!

    One snag - I was re-installing AVG and it is still asking to have the EastLink Security program removed.I don't see it when I checked with the add or removed program file. I just called for it to install anyway and it works.

    It probably gave you that message because there is still a service listed even though the file is gone.

    And to be sure:

    Open notepad and copy and paste the following text in the quote box into the window:
    Save this as fix.bat on your desktop.
    Choose to save as all files.
    Doubleclick fix.bat and let the program run.
    A small black dos window will flash, this is normal.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real-time protection. They are useful as backup scanners.They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore ato create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
