Hello, I'm not very good with computer's so please forgive the long running commentary to follow-

    Please help me majorgeeks: -

Hi, my computer became infected with Antivirus suite on the 3rd of April.

Antivirus Suite brought up numerous I.E. browser windows, that when closed re-open, and constant pop up alerts telling me my computer is infected with 34 or how many virus' it has found and advising i buy their program.

Having managed to locate what seems to be the original file that installed- “jwxsxawtssd” – I say original as this is the source folder i found when I looked in my startup programs to find the viral program that had installed itself to begin in start ups.

I went into user permissions for the folder and by trying to deny access it has to my computer. and i don't really know if this is what helped- but when I shut down and loaded up my computer the pop ups and all the warning windows have not come up once or since.

I therefore decided not to download and run rkill (this was advised on bleeping computer and 2-viruses.com), as this seems to be for those who need a breather from the pop ups to have a chance at running a malware removal program.

I tried malwayre bytes anti malware to remove this virus for full scan both before and after updating its software, but no virus found. I also used it to scan the file itself but nothing. I should stress here that I did not run the malwarebytes in safe mode as i read other posts where those with wireless internet seem to struggle with their connection once running windows normally.

I also have not tried to use system restore as again it does not appear to remove the program. - again these were tips on the other foums.

I dont want to delete the folder (where “jwxsxawtssd” was located in) in case this causes it to replicate and I have to then hunt it down. I have the same fear about removing/disabling it from my start up programs.

On the whole my computer is running normally, but i dont dare access any personal password protected sites in case there is a key logger. I really want rid of this?

Quick update- I tried d/l spyware doctor- and whilst it has installed, it insists on updating its files before running a scan. I tried to download the update but after downloading, very slowly, a few megabytes- it says- "smartupdate encountered a problem with the server".

Again, any help would be appreciated- thanks for reading my post.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this aother user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:

Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.
