I never had a disk space problem before until, I had to get rid of XP :( and switch to Windows 7 Pro. I'm using a Dell Vostro 200 and all I have is 89.7 mb out of 74.4 GB on my C drive. If I close some programs and boot the PC I can jack up my free space to a little over 1 GB. I don't have much stored on this PC besides 11 Word documents, and my programs are Microsoft Office 2007, Apple iTunes with around 200 songs on it. Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Pop Peeper, CC Cleaner, MalwareBytes, Savy Connect, VLC Media Player, and that's about it. One place I was shopping at offered me a 500 GB PC with 2 ram for $150. But if I can get away with spending less dollars for more disk space, I can save badly needed $$$$.

All of that can take up a lot of space. Toshiba Direct always has some good sales. It really depends on what you do. I have a Toshiba Satellite C850D-St3nx1. I bumped the RAM up to 12GB, changed out the platter drive to a Crucial M500 SSD.

I keep stuff like documents, videos, etc. on a family cloud drive. As for itune songs. I do not keep any, since I download them direct to my iPhone 5.

I would look at using a NAS for data. Especially one that offers iTunes server support.
