    Just checking.
Anyone have a bad experience in the last couple years with any of these?
    Seagate
    Maxtor
    Toshiba
    WD
    Off brands??

    Maxtor (Quantum) - Ugh.

I prefer WD, then Seagate or Fujitsu. My opinion.

I like Seagate. Get the one with the longest warranty.

I have had one Seagate drive die in the last few years. Lots of Maxtors and a few WD's died. 5 years is a solid warranty on a hard drive.

Well, I just won the bid on eBay on a Seagate 250GB external.

Western Digital - Rocks. Customer service, tech support, quality, it is all good. When they replaced a dead hard drive even before I sent them the old one I was sold.

Not that others are not as good, but that is my experience. So, I say WD.
