Any program that takes video footage of computer activity?

You know how Spyware takes screenshots of computer activity every n seconds? Is there any program that takes video footage, so you can actually see the activity in motion.

I don't need this for any means of spying. I need to turn a perfectly timed PowerPoint presentation into a video, and a camera just won't do.

Or pay programs like Camtasia or SnagIt will record your desktop to avi.
There was a program called Robodemo, that would record by clicks & and I think timed intervals.. I also think Macromedia bought the company now.
