    Hello there!

I was wondering what in the world would make my computer appear as if its in safe mode when its not... I have rebooted, I have run every spyware, virus scan, registery checkers.. etc.. and found nothing ...

I am running Windows 98... My Belarc is attached..I have turned this thing off and left it off for two days.. and reboot it and bame there it is again... appearing as if its in safe mode...

I was going to do a system reformat but I get this crazy message about reading drive f... and cant get passed that .. that is what I get when I type in FORMAT C .. which could be a good thing being when I went to just reinstall windows I realized I no longer had my reg code for it.. any way.. any clues why it would appear to be in safe mode when its not?

    Hugs,
    Nascar

maybe your user account got messed up? or your display driver got corrupt?

does it say safe mode at the top and bottom of the screen?

No dear it does not say safe mode anywhere on the screen.. Just ht icons and color looks as if its in safe mode.. now for the real stupid question.. how do I know if it is the display driver is corrupt or if its a ACCOUNT that is messed up?

Can you select any other resolution higher than 640x480 16 color?

also posting your system specs would help .. cpu, video card, computer make and model etc .. as well as how many partitions you have

It sounds like someone has turned your display setting to lower settings. Try right clicking on your desktop and select properties then click the settings tab the set to the highest color setting your setup has then move the screen resolution slider to a higher resolution setting then click OK.
