...the problem is I don't have Mac. I have itune but the programs(2 of them ) are for a iMac update. Can I uninstall them or are they attached to iTune?
    Thanks

Could we get more information about what OS you are using and what kind of computer. A screenshot of the add/remove programs list would be helpful. Just press the print screen button and then paste it into a paint document.

Hello Senlis, BT has another thread with that info:

    It's round and red....yep! Apple!:-D(sorry rolleyes LOLcouldn't resist)
Apple Application and apple up date
I know Apple and iTune are kind of one and the same but why would I have to update it twice as the iTune has it's own update. When I clicked on the "support highlight on both the apples they both went to the Mac sight for updates/support.

Also while we're not on the same subject what would cause this trailing.jpg I have a ton of issues with my desk top that I am trying to remedy myself but I don't know a lot and I don't want to screw it up. I'm almost at the reformat point and I REALLY don't want to go there. Been there with my friends dell from hell.rolleyes Don't get me wrong I can do it but that is the last resource and if that happens then I'll just go to Linux as I've always wanted to try it.Ok I said too much.
    Thanks

Hi BT WOW, how many control panels have you got there? You are showing add & remove programs from your control panel, but it looks like you have at least 5 of them? Might have to call out the big guns on this one. rolleyes

NOT multi panels TC trailer of One. Every so often thats what happens when my pc slows down. If I move the window it leaves a trail of windows.

    fyi: Bonjour is also Apple.
I see nothing wrong with those 3 Apple-cations installed as that's normal.

Should try to figure out why your machine is slowing down. Perhaps bring up task manager and see what is consuming CPU when you get the window drawing delay effect.

Thanks elbiatcho1 but I know why it's slowing down and I'm trying to eliminate them now. I have way too much for my pc and I am trying to get rid of what I don't use with in 6months or more. Plus I'm transferring some files onto a portable hard drive I got 2 months ago.(I'm still learning and playing with it). That"s why the question about uninstalling them as I mentioned that I don't have a Mac and if they aren't going to interfere with my itune then why can't I uninstall them?
...and Yes I know Bonjour is apple but it is apart of itune that is needed.

i have an iPhone and here's what's required/needed (outside your iTunes Helper):
    Apple Mobile Device
    Bonjour Service
    iPod Service
    Quicktime

Bonjour & Quicktime will only run when you're using something that requires those services. the rest are needed for updates that you will definitely want.

the only thing you don't want (it'll be in the updates) is the Safari browser. it's the iPhone & Mac browser, but the Windows version only looks good. very slow & buggy on my WinXP Home so tried it then uninstalled pretty quickly.

also, the Apple & Bonjour footprints are VERY tiny. iTunes is 107mb & Quicktime is 75.6mb on my system AND you do have to have them if you want to do anything with iTunes. you might get away with uninstalling Quicktime, but i wouldn't if you ever play podcasts, movies, videos, etc. from iTunes.

ran out of edit time: i'm under XP Home & no clue if any iMAC thing might have to do with Vista or 7. i have the same items in my Add/Remove. DON'T uninstall them unless you're getting rid of iTunes & your iPod/iPhone.

what you could get rid of is your Adobe Reader. Foxit has the same reader (although maybe not so many language packs) that only has a 3mb (yes, that's "3" not "300") footprint. it's awesome! i actually purchased their Pro which is not much bigger & only cost around $99.00usd (Adobe's full is around $3,000.00usd & almost 500mb).

Ok! The only thing I have that has anything to do with apple is Itunes & bonjour. I do an MP3 once in a blue moon but that is mostly downloading from cd's. I do burn disc and sometimes if I get lucky and figure out how to put music with the movies I make but still itunes is not used. I use Quick time more then itunes. So what you are saying is that if I uninstall the two apples then I'll mess my itune app up? I have Bonjour and quick and 2 apples(MAC)as well as the Itune and to me that seems like a lot to have just to use the Itunes.and they each have their own update sites. if I have to have all them just to have itunes then I may as well tell itunes bye-bye.

in that case, you can get rid of them. if you uninstall iTunes, the rest should go...may have a skosh of cleanup but if you don't have an iPod or iPhone, kick them to the curb. also, check out the Foxit reader to clean up another 200+mb of room. seriously. i've been using Foxit, instead of Adobe Reader for over 6 years. the reader is free with no crapware included.

one other tip, you can up your screen prints to tinypic.com. they'll post in reduced size that everyone can click on to full size and it'll be as clear as if they were looking at your screen. i use the Print Screen button, open freeware IrfanView & crop to just what i need, save as jpg, upload to tinypic, then delete the jpg if i don't need it anymore.

The free one does the same as Adobe? I do use a lot of PDF files, and fill out forms sometimes through the PDF. Foxit will do this for free?

    I'll give it a try

Thanks Cake for the info and I will take it all into consideration. I really don't want to give up my itune but I don't want the extra baggage ether.

if you're talking about filling in online ones, i'm not exactly sure. if you've got a link, i'll test it, although it needs to be something that you need to fill in for the specific website and not something like the regular IRS W-4. if it's that, you can fill it in & print it, then close it without saving with the Foxit reader (did just test it).

if you have downloaded/saved pdf files, you can't edit them with any "reader." you'd need a pdf editor & i also recommend the Foxit one for its small size and low cost.

i know Adobe would disagree with me, but most of their stuff is full of bloat the average person just doesn't need (had it at work and i still didn't see the point). i sure as heck don't need a gazillion language files (Foxit also has quite a few so I don't know exactly what Adobe's is bloated with, unless it's in case you ever get any of their REALLY expensive software). i only need my language & the few other Romance (as in Rome, not the Harlequin supermarket romance paperbacksLOL) & Germanic languages i have some familiarity with.

you can install the free Foxit reader, test it by right clicking a pdf, clicking Open With and browsing for Foxit. just make sure you uncheck the "use this for every" box to make sure it does what you expect/want. if you like it, uninstall the Adobe Reader and i don't think you'll miss anything.

I go to Govn't web sites(retiree) and a lot of the pages require Adobe PDF and/or Office. I will give it a try like you said it won't hurt anything. Thanks

i also don't have any MS Office products. lost all but notepad after a reformat & had to order an installation cd. Dell said my pc was too old and the original installs were "trials."

tried free OpenOffice, but wasn't as MS compatible as i liked so purchased Kingsoft Office ($99 USD; half the price of equivalent stand-alone MS Office). it's completely compatible with creating/editing MS rtf, text, word, excel & powerpoint docs; doesn't have access or outlook which i don't use anyway.

had a thought (NO, it didn't hurt LOL); if you want, you can keep Quicktime, but iTunes will have to go if it's taking up too much room. if Quicktime gets uninstalled with iTunes, just download/install it separately.
