Apple software taking up A LOT of space

I was trying to figure out what was taking up so much space on an old Dell tower I'm working on, and after some investigative snooping, I discovered that C:\Documents And Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Apple Computer\Mobile Sync\Backup is a massive 30gb in size!!! In this folder there are 9 folders with names like "3bd3efb13579375b6de4f........" and each folder is full of files with very similar names that basically look like random strings. Is this "Back Up" folder even needed? Could I just delete all but the most recent folder in the "Back Up" folder?
