I have a HP m380n Desktop that I have owned since 12/23/2003 and still going strong, very few problems with hardware.
It has ASUS P4SD-LA mobo Pentuim 4 3.0 GHZ
    I have upgraded w/4GB Ram
320 GB HD as Primary and 160 GB as Secondary on IDE.
I am wanting to add a larger 500 GB HD using SATA (2 on MOBO) and manual states each connector supports 1 ATA - 150 Drive
    Question:
What type of drive is available for this setup?
I have researched and have become bewildered due to not keeping up with new terms and old systems.

    Hello,
ATA - 150 is basically a SATA drive. In more detail ATA-150 (1.5 Gbit/s) is the maximum transfer rate of a SATA device on your motherboard. That would be considered a SATA 1 drive. Most SATA hard drives now have a 3 Gbit/s transfer rate (SATA 2). Some of these drives have a jumber setting so they are forced down to a ATA-150 or SATA 1.

Thanks for the clear answer explaining the difference in SATA descriptions, this has helped very much.
