Asus P7P55D Issuses(?)

Hello,

I bought the following setup from a friend:

Asus P7P55D
Intel Core Quad i5 760 2.8GHz
4GB Ripjaws DDR3 1600

I had the rest of the computer already.

When I put the parts together the motherboard would display a red light for the CPU. No worries, I'm sure he has the warranty. Wrong!

So I buy the exact same CPU and same thing happens.

Rest of the rig is:

5850 HD
Be Quiet! DarkPowerPro 750W

Both of these are running in my current system.

I have no way to test my current components so I'm hoping y'all have a good idea of what could be wrong.

Please help :-o

 

Hi Morethanconfused and welcome to MGs.

Looking at the CPU support listing for that mobo, that particular CPU requires BIOS version 1702 or later. Check your version and you will have to flash it if it is an earlier version.

Sometimes it is easy to forget but did you also attach the 4pin CPU power connector to the motherboard?
