    Long time no virus...
    unfortunately, my buddy seems to have the quake virus
    he attempted to crack a software program for making slideshows
    he got a bad crack that revealed pornography and popups
    the crack proceeded to to install a "secuirty and trouble shooting" center
    i attempted the "Read and Run Me first" however, something is not allowing me to completely download programs such as HiJack this
    my buddy said that he removed the "quake" from his add/removal programs at least twice but the program returns
    can you please tell me if my diagnosis is correct and what i need to do since the PC is unable to open/download any new programs that maybe helpful?

    First run this: SpywareQuake & SpyFalcon Removal Procedure and attach the smitfiles.txt log.

    Now download HOSTER and then follow the below steps.
    • Unzip Hoster to a convenient folder such as C:\Hoster
    • Run Hoster.exe, click Restore Original Hosts and then click OK.
    • Click the X to exit the program
    Now try to run the READ ME. If you cannot run all of it, tell me, but please try everything and post the logs from what you are able to run.
