Audio Playback Sped Up!!

    Never heard this before, nor have any of my computer friends.

    Simply put: all audio playback on my system is sped up. Not full Chimpmunks but at least 2 octaves higher than normal.

    This happens with both streaming music (itunes, myspace, specific band mp3s) and with loaded dics into the drive.

    It's a Dell Optiplex GX 240
    Win2000
    P4 1700MHz

    The soundcard is a factory deal from Intel the AC'97
    and the DVD/CD-ROM is a Lite-On LTN486 48x Max

    Any ideas where to look to troubleshoot (i've rooted around the control panel in a basic fashion) would be great.

    sorry, sorry. i jumped the 'not exactly matching' gun. i downloaded and installed the AD 1885 and it works. hell yes, it works!!

    and no buffering problems now either.
