   I am trying to follow the read and run section for my Mother's laptop.
   
   She runs Avast Internet Security, the full version, and so I think she doe snot need the windows firewall on. What I'm unsure about is whether I need to turn off windows Defender and PC Pitstop Supershield.
   
   I'm not sure how great Avast is at avoiding adware.
   
   Any advice would be great!

   When running the scans of in the READ & RUN ME FIRST, turn off anything you can turn off. If it does not let you turn it off then you will have to continue without disabling.
   
   

   adware is the 2nd least of your worries and most adware is easily uninstalled. Cookies are the 1st least of your worries.
