avg 7 and removable drives...

just downloaded the newer version of AVG ( 7... ?) and now my dvd, dvd writer and floppy no longer read media. the system says they are working fine but put a cd, dvd etc in and it comes back as blank. Un-install AVG... they all work again...

had the same problem with norton internet protection suite which is why I was using AVG 6... which worked fine. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell my you guys can sort this out... cheers.

 

UPDATE.... seems to only be a problem with the free version.. I just installed the trial version and now it appears to be woking again... How strange is that??? now I need to decide if I wanna pay for it... LOL... Any help would still be appreciated. thanks.

Final update on the subject. AVG help came up with the goods.

it seemed AVG 7 was clashing with INCD version I had running.

For the technically able, I'll copy the e-mail into here, who knows, someone might find it useful.

Thank you for your email.

Run REGEDIT (registry editor) and modify following value:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BsUDF]
"Start"=dword:00000004

The problem is caused by a conflict between AVG Resident Shield and
an older version of BsUDF.sys driver, that was installed as a part of
InCD program. This registry record remains in registry eventhough the
InCD is uninstalled, so it is necessary to remove this record
manually.

If user requires InCD on his PC, recommended is an installation of
the latest version, that is available here:
http://www.nero.com/en/update_nero6.php?pak=5
