AVG finds rootkit and removes it only for it to return

    Avg keeps finding a rootkit it describes as the type being hidden by a program, i remove it reboot only to have avg find it again.
    I deleted viewpoint media player of my system after going through my programs.
    Combo fix won't work on my OS, i have 64bit ultimate vista.

    Where exactly is AVG telling you there is a rootkit? A log would be most helpful as your other logs are all clean.

    Are you actually having any problems other than the AVG report?

    no other problems, just never had avg identify a rootkit on this computer before

    It is quite possible that the file being found is related to DAEMON Tools Lite which uses random file names. Did AVG say it removed it?

    yup, but then it returns after i reboot, avg tells me i must reboot in order to completely remove the file

    You should try uninstalling Daemon tools and then rebooting (don't skip the reboot). Then run a scan with AVG and see what it finds.
