AVG security center not running at start up?

Whenever I turn on my PC, AVG Free Edition icon does not appear in taskbar. It used to but not now
I click on the Icon on the desktop and open up AVG to get to the Test center, where the message is: Cannot confirm Security Status - with an orange coloured box with white tick inside it!
As soon as I click to go to the Control center from the menu in AVG, up pops the message: You are fully protected with a green box and white tick.

Any ideas why this happens? Should I not be protected from start up?
