avira hidden objects jumped from 6 to 31

Hi,

Unfortunately my husband took some bad advice when searching for a way to get some video's off a Sony Exmor camera. They don't appear to be in a format that we can load on the computer. He tried a recommendation and it loaded all kinds of garbage on our PC. He's gone back to where he got the advice and let others know it is bad. We've run Avira and it picked up a virus which was quarantined however the hidden objects which is always 6 had jumped to 31 and that concerns me. Whatever this thing did it changed the homepage, tool bar etc which my husband has fixed. We also ran Malwarebytes and it didn't find anything.

I am concerned about the increase in Hidden Objects as all previous scans have only returned 6 items. Is there anyway to find out what the extra 25 are and removed them if possible?

I'll certainly follow your advice, however I will have to get my husband to backup the system first. He has files in a lot more places than I do so to get them all, he will have to do the back up. I'm always so careful on where I will go and what I will download, but he's a bit less cautious. Hopefully he has learned.
