ok- i have a pretty fast cpu- 1024 3200 ram, pent 4 at 3.2 gh. i am wondering if the back ground prgrams i have running are neccesary. i have free ram xp pro, avast, and zone alarm. i was wondering if i need Z.A. if i already ahve avast running. also, is avg better than avast?

I use Zone alarm free and never had a problem with it hogging memory. It hovers around 3600k in task manager.I also use AVG free and I'm quite happy with it.Nothing of a memory hog like Norton is.

Zone Alarm is a firewall and Avast is an antivirus program. Each protects your computer in different ways. Leave both running.
