backup large files

    How can I back up an 8GB video (avi) file without losing quality - I have a DVD-RW and 4.7GB disks?

    Is there a way of (a) splitting or (b) compressing the file? Winzip tells me it only deals with files maximum 4GB.

    Can anyone recommend any other software for this job?
