I am looking for expert advice for a reasonably priced backup program that will allow me to schedule a backup of selected files but will only backup if the file size or date has changed. An example is "I use Quicken for my personal use. I don't enter data every day but I would like to leave a backup cd in my burner so if I do enter anything then at the scheduled time the program will check the data files for changes. If any changes then and only then would it peform a backup. I have looked at several programs but none will allow me to do exactly what I want. It is inconvient for me to download a bunch of trial programs as living on the edge of the earth I have extremely slow dialup...typically about 19kbps... Thanks in advance

I use Acronis TrueImage and love it, it does full and incremental backaups only if there are changes. or however you set it.
I've used Norton's ghost and it's ok but I lost all faith in Nortons over the last few years. lol

Well durn, if I live on the edge of the earth and you only get 4-5 kbps then you must be over the edge. :D

I had read that article earlier but something between my ears is loosing a little on the translation. I don't understand the difference between imaging and backup I guess. I appreciate your input and I will check out that "True Image" program.

This has been nagging me for days.
How the hell do you get 19kps on dialup?
    Where are you?
What program are you using to download?
What modem settings are you using?
DrTcp is a great program to show your modem dialup settings.

Dr Tcp http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp is worth the download and will provide your settings.

I have never seen any reference to dialup getting better than 4-5kps as an average anywhere, so am really intrigued. Bazza

Using tape Backup, you can set at what time it will do every day, for data only or for the whole disk, winXP and win2k is already supported

Because He has been using dialup, so I think the line, if he make a call from this line and he hear clearly that mean the line is good, another problem is the connector-the Jack connect between the line to modem it has been rusted for long time of using
