I spent a long time over thinking about the list, and came up with 20. It was so hard to get it down to 10 but lots of the PC games went, like Starcraft and Shogun Total War. Dune 2 and Flashback had to go.

Im gonna have to get a snes emulator and play chrono trigger (is it for the snes?) lots of people say that is a good game.

Chrono Trigger is snes, I've got it on an emulator. The trick is finding a version which works because, for some reason, a lot of them suck. It's been so long since I went looking for it I couldn't even tell you where I got mine.

Yeah, I've always thought of that game as the best Sid M. game out there. Smart, thought provoking, creepy, engrossing, balanced, and in general a natural evolution of the CIV interface and philosophy. Plus Chairman Yang was one spooky old MoFo...

Thanks 4 the replies its interesting for me to see what people rate as their best games of all time, theres a wide range as well which is good. For anyone who doesn't know what Chaos is (my 2nd all time favourite game) it was a simple game given away free on a cover tape of a speccy magazine years ago by Julian Callop (who made Laser Squad which led the way for the X-Com games). It has been remade and you should try it :) Try not to laugh at the graphics and give it a few games before you decide cos it grows on you.

    http://www.remakes.org/

Get the ChaosFunk version, it is the most accurate. Or get a spectrum emulator and find the original ;)

My favourite arcade game is Mortal Kombat 1, when I was 13 I spent over £2000 on that game - 6 hours a day every weekend in an arcade taking on all challengers. Ah - wasted youth :)

Star wars was a good game too.

Freespace was so far ahead of it's time, and it's gameplay is so fluid. Still holds up today over a lot more recent titles. I thought FS2 was a bit of a copoff though, exactly the same game with better graphics and more ships.

As far as computer games go, Half-Life and sequels have spawned some of the greatest mods out there. The entire Valve line-up coupled with the sheer amount of quality mods puts Half-Life up on the top of the list.

    8) Donkey Kong Country 1, 2 & 3 (Super Nintendo)
    9) Sim City (PC & Console)
    10) NBA Jam Series (Arcade & Console)
    11) Deluxe Galaga (Amiga 500/600/1200 etc)
    12) Tetrisphere (Nintendo 64)
    13) Goldeneye 007 (Nintendo 64)
    14) Turbo Lotus I & II (Amiga 500/600/1200 etc)
    15) Age Of Empires Series (PC)
    16) Shinobi (Sega Megadrive II)
    17) Gran Turismo Series (Playstation, Playstation 2)
    18) Halo (PC/XBOX/XBOX360)
    19) Max Payne 1 & 2 (PC/Console) *Bullet Time*
    20) Command & Conquer Series (PC/Console)

I can't personally put in current titles that I do have and think are awesome, becuase 9 out of 10 times, once I complete it, that'll be it, Games these past few years that are of high development profile/cost, wow for the first play, and usually end craving more becuase it was too short, or you just un-install it because the single player side lacks replay value!

I'm currently enticed in Prey, Half Life 2 - Episode 1, Age Of Empires 3, F.E.A.R, etc but I completed FEAR, and now I cannot be bothered repeating it again, Prey has me down, but I know once I finish it, I`ll never replay it again unless I upgrade my videocard, and want to test performance, along with fear..

Believe it or not, with me I seem to be going back for more with 'Small' low profile games, that are not awaiting pre-order, or not many people know about, they seem to be just as enticing, some even eye candy, but they seem to have replay value, or that feeling to try this or that again, but this way instead of that way, increased speed, diffrent power-ups, etc...

Zuma Deluxe, Bejewelled 2 Deluxe, Warblade v1.2y6 (Remake of Deluxe Galaga, but superior GFX), Star Defender 3, Jets'n'Guns... These games seem to get most of my time, and I don't get bored as quick! Jet's n Guns to me is fantastic, it's got awesome 2D with 3D Graphics, and their is heaps of diffrent weapon configurations you can use. Or Warblade, once you do the first 100 levels, it just doesn't start again, difficulty changes, reactions change, added baddies, etc

Sorry to babble, it just reminded me writing this list, that I could hardly think of any PC games, and when I did, I thought of the Graphics over anything else, and I think thats the problem, most hi end PC games require obsurd PC upgrades to get a decent framerate, but the game itself lacks a true storyline, or gameplay tactics that make you want more!

Or maybe I am just fussy.....
