best ram (pc3200) for amd 3200 xp & k7n2 mobo

i was wondering if a kingston 512 mb kvr4000x64c3a is a good choice it is $98 and has a lifetime warnt.
im usng a msi k7n2 delta-L with either amd 3000 or 3200 xp 400 fsb
who makes better ram kingston or corsair?

short answer: yup it is, unless you're going to overclock (but I doubt that seeing your choice of CPU) then you'll want to get somewhat faster ram.

 

That will work just fine. Both Kingston and Corsair are good companies and both make quality ram.

 

That RAM isnt good for your system: Its PC4000, and unless you're overclocking, you only need PC3200. That RAM has very high latencies, so, running it in your rig (Even if you run it in sync with the FSB, at PC3200, it likely cant run low latencies anyway), will be slower then some PC3200 low latency memory. That Kingston PC4000 is pretty cheap though;where did you see it for sale?

There some geil PC3200 with quicker latencies, but its about the same price for 512mb.

 

i found that ram at zipzoomfly.com it they also offer free 2nd day air which is nice since that is the only way to get things shipped up here to alaska.

one more question whats the diffrence between oem and retail on a cpu besides the ten dollar price diffrence?

 

retail comes with a 3 year warranty and a heatsink/fan combo. oem is processor only (no hs/f) and a 90 day warranty.

 

OEM they send you a tiny little box covered in lots of bubble wrap, with two pieces of foam in it with the processor sitting inside. Its a bit dissapointing really
