Never used a specific program just for screen shots. If you are a windows user you have MS paint and there are many free graphic programs you can use such as Irfanview etc. Depending on what I want the screen shot for I use Irfanview, PSP or PS.

Snagit is pretty good but not free.
Otherwise I do what AbbeySue stated.

Ya know... In Windows XP, if you hold down CTRL + ALT + SHFT + and tap: Print Screen ---- It copies the current screen to the clip board. Then you can paste it into any image editing program and save it or edit it...:)

I believe if you check the link AbbySue posted above, it says just that. ;)

Ya know:rolleyes:..if you paid attention to the previous posts you would have seen that the simplest solution was already provided. See post #2. Simply pressing the prt scr key saves the image to the clip board (no multi-key combo to remember for newbies) and then it can be pasted into any of the free editing program options already provided ie: MS paint, irfanvew....

I use MWsnap. It's free. It can save and auto-save as jpeg files, much smaller than bmp's or what you get using print-screen and pasting into Paint.

For clairification...the default in paint is bmp but using the drop down box you can choose from other file types that are much smaller..jpg, gif, png...
