BF3 - change difficulty level?

    Is it possible to change the difficulty level in mid-campaign in Battlefield3 on PC? I started a single player campaign on "Hard" after completing "Easy" and "Normal" and now I'm stuck in a hand-to-hand with a guy that I cannot seem to kill! I get close sometimes, but always get killed. From what I can tell, it is not possible to change the difficulty mid-game..... bummer.
