Big Decision Help Please.

Right now i have a XFX Motherboard. I was considering purchasing this ASUS Delux board.

My main reasons are, support (xfx sux), minor problems with performance, availibilty of SATA, RAID, Giga Networking.

Now will there by any difference going with this differnt board? Any at all?

I like the SATA feature, but i do not know if i will be buying a SATA drive really soon. Also in a year or so i might go into a 64bit chip with PCIe, and that good stuff. That is a big maybe though.

So basicly with staying with my current processor for a while, and possibly buying one or two (raid 0) sata hard drives in the future, is this motherboard worth it?

Lastly would you buy an OEM (white box) board? The only thing included is the board, thats it. I can get it for $74 shipped.

Please offer any advice, and even slap me upside my head. lol

i wouldn't buy a board for SATA alone ... as it's not faster than IDE right now, unless you must have RAID ... although it may improve performance as ASUS' generally score higher in benchmarks

 

Thanks Pyrate. After some reading SATA is not faster then IDE. Unless i get a Raptor in RAID 0..no thanks ill keep my $400.

I might see some improvements i guess. I was considering buying the Asus, and then using the XFX and my 2400+ as a folding computer.
