I am having a problem with my desktop. It is running an Intel Viiv Technology with Intel Core 2 Duo processor E6400, Windows XP Media Edition.

A day prior to this, I had to perform a System Recovery because the computer would not get past the Windows XP loading screen (black with the green bars), so the computer was busy downloading and installing updates everywhere. Last night, while my computer was installing HP Updates, it froze for 30 minutes, so I had to soft reset it.

Now, whenever I try to start up my computer, it immediately says this:

    Code:
    Award BootBlock BIO v1.0

    BIOS ROM checksum error
    no keyboard or keyboard error

    Detecting IDE ATAPI device...
Found CDROM, try to boot from it... Fail
Found CDROM, try to boot from it... Fail

    Detecting floppy drive a Media
    Drive a error: System halt

It then beeps continuosly at a fast pace.

I have tried putting in the Windows XP install disc and it then goes to a blue Windows Setup screen, but no further than that. Just a blue screen with "Windows Setup" at the top.

What can I do to fix this problem? I'm currently using my laptop, but I really need my desktop for work. Please help.
