I have a Gateway 6510GZ laptop running windows XP home edition.

I'm trying to install a driver from the HP site to be able to print from my computer on the networked printer in our office.

I went to http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html , looked up the proper driver, and downloaded it to my desktop.

I double-clicked on it, it unzipped, and... absolutely nothing happens.

According to the HP site, "The HP Driver Installation Utility will display a "Driver Download Complete" dialog once the driver is successfully extracted. Click OK in this dialog to begin the driver installation."

But no dice. The unzipped files just kinda sit there. I tried searching for something in there titled "install" but no luck with that either. Am I doing something wrong?

P.S. - this is what I'm trying to install:

HP Color LaserJet 3600 host based driver
    Type: Driver
    Version: 61.063.461.41 (1 Jan 2008)
Operating System(s): Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP
    File name: HP_CLJ_3600_32bit_2000_XP_S2003_HB.exe (15 MB)

Many HP drivers do not have installers. They extract to a location on your your hard drive (usually in C:\HP or maybe C:\Program Files\HP). When you find the right folder there might be a setup.exe file that you can run. Or, you may need to install the driver thru the device manager. However, when connecting to a printer over a network (if the printer is NOT plugged into the PC you are actually using but it's plugged into a different PC on the network) you generally don't need to install drivers. When Windows picks up the printer over the network, it automatically grabs the drivers from the PC that the printer is plugged into, so they don't need to be manually installed on each PC on the network.
