I have a Dell with XP and SP2.

I installed a Linksys Firewall router.
The router came with a install disc with
a trial Norton Internet Security 2004.

I figured I would check it out and install.

    Bad things happened after that.

Soon after boot - the blue screen of death appears,
    and I get "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA"
    and/or "Stop: 0x00000008e". It then re-boots,
    or stays in blue screen.

I tried running in safe mode - it works but I cannot
    add/remove programs in safe mode.

If I try to add/remove in regular - I cannot do it
because of quick blue screen, or when I get to
the add/remove - I get a "cannot run DLL" message
and it does not let me do it.

Any ideas? Symantec website offered no solution.

    THANKS

what you may find is you will need an update to Norton to allow it to work properly with SP2, try to update norton while in safe mode.

or, in safe mode try going to start -- > run -- > 'msconfig' without quotes, and then go to the startup tab, try and find anything relating to norton and uncheck it, it may be crashing upon execution of the norton utilities.

i know there were conflicts with norton and XP service pack 2, but im not sure which version it was that there was a problem, so updating it should really fix everything, but if that doesn't work you can always try this, get into windows, and then remove it if needed.

    good luck
