This is a wierd one, updated my monitor to a Samsung SM 943nw, 19 inch widescreen, my built in graphics is ATI xpress 200, which has been set to 1440 by 900, which is the optimum setting for the screen,
The strange thing is that certain areas of the screen has out of focus text, blurred, I dropped the resolution to a lower setting and it seems ok, although the screen is not as sharp.
Is this a monitor fault or do I need to update to another graphics card?
I took monitor to work and it had same problem, but upped the screen refresh rate to 75hz and it solved problem, took back home and it only allows 60hz refresh, but according to manufacters specs, 60 Hz is the optimum setting.
The pc has a pentium 4 3.4Ghz processor with 2 meg ram.
    Please help!!!

I'll probably not help U, but I had a same problem with my SM 943NW.. When it was on 75Hz refresh rate text was blurry, but when I set it to 60Hz it worked perfectly.. Tried to do some settings with nvidia control panel and that didn't helped much. I have a nvidia 8500GT graphics card, so i don't think that's an issue.. OK then.. If U come up with an logical answer post it..
    :confused

Sounds like the monitor should have a better graphics card. I strongly recommend a new graphics card

    Hey there,

Do your graphics card and monitor have the correct drivers and or any extra software for it?

Most graphic cards / monitors from the last few years should be able to do 75HZ.

Try setting your monitor to use 75Hz at home if possible - verify the correct drivers for the monitor and graphics card are installed first.

Check your graphics card capabilities from the graphics card tab in the same area as the monitor tab (see below) and verify the supported modes for your graphics card, if it indicates that it supports 75Hz proceed to the next step.

To alter the monitors refresh rate - If you are using XP

    Right click on desktop
Select - Properties from the options
    Select - Settings
    Select - Advanced
Select the - Graphics supported modes or Monitor Tab for refresh rate.

In the monitor tab there should be an option to alter the screen to 75Hz - (hopefully).

If you have issues with the display after this - leave the pc alone for approx 15 - 20 seconds and hopefully it will revert back to normal or try safe mode.

    Gluck:wave

    Hi

Thanks for your support, but i tried to install new graphics card, nvidia 7300 pci express, but it would not boot up, reckon it is too heavy on current for my power supply, took monitor back as i tried it at work too and it happened the same, only when i upped it to 75hz did problem go away, don't rate the monitor if it states that optimum res is 1440 by 900 at 60hz and then it doesn't work correctly, ordered an Hp w1907v, which seems to have better reviews, hope this one is better!

    :)
