I am dual-booting Vista and XP. My Vista installation is on one drive, XP on another. It was problematic and difficult to get XP working correctly, but now it's working fine. I noticed on the boot screen the option for a Windows Memory Diagnostic tool so I thought I'd check it out, but when I try to it says there is an error or that memtest.exe is corrupted. Is there a way I can fix this without the installation disc?

Use either OS, for this, but ensure that you enable, in Windows Explorer > Tools > Options > View >
    Show hidden files/folders
    Show system files/folders
    Show file extension

Perform a Windows search for "memtest.exe" of all hard drives. Ensure that you include hidden/system/subfolders in the search.

Doing this will show you if there is more than one of these files present on your system, and where it/they are. That would be a good start. Maybe we can proceed further from there.
