Bootable Linux Usb Stick

    My aim is to create a bootable linux USB stick holding persistent cabability.
    For HD video editing.
    I am happy to follow any suggestions.
    I have used Ubuntu but I don't think it is persistent.
    I'm really after software suggestions.

    Ubuntu and all its derivatives have persistence. If your stick doesn't, you didn't select that option.
