Broken Mac Computer, need to back up files

Howdy guys!

So I have a friend's Macbook that ended up being dropped and a bunch of the hardware or broke (or so he said he just dropped it, I dunno, lol) and wanted to me to get the data off the hard drive. Well, I've never used OSX really. Normally for Windows I use a Winbuilder PE or Linux Ubuntu to back up data, but Linux wont bypass the permissions stage for OSX like it does for Windows. PLUS, I don't have a spare Mac nor do I have access to one.

Does anyone have a way to backup data from OSX without having a working Mac computer?

 

And I'm a tard that thought he put this post in the Mac section but didn't. Yay for beign a retard.
