This is my first post here, although I have used Major Geeks for reference throughout the years. I have an E Machine T 2885(which has been good to me now for about three years). Its got a 80 gig hard drive, 1 gig of ram, and a 2.8 gig celeron(R) processor running XP Home service pack 2. I've kept it in good running shape with the help of Major Geeks removal procedures and software recommendations, but it has just been acting a little wierd lately. It just seems to be a little slow bringing up applications, Especially (My Music), with 1500 files that might be normal right?, but it seemed not to happen gradually as I built my music library. The worse part is my internet seems to be slowed just a bit (sbc yahoo dsl 1.5 mg). I know that this isn't the fastest but it use to be faster along with the redirection problem. Sometimes when I'm redirected by certain sites it just sends me to a blank page. My antivirus is kaspersky 6.0 internet security which I've ran a full scan. My other protection includes ewido antispyware, adaware se personal, spybot search and destroy, spyware blaster, ccleaner, and advanced system optimizer. After running these fully updated programs and following your procedures, these problems still persist:confused: I will enclose my hijack this log. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    EDIT: Removed inline log

    Hi

To rule out About Blank infection run this About:Blank and HSA (aka Only the Best) Hijackers - Generic Solution

Then please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Also have you cleaned up your Temp files with CCleaner?

    Defragged your HD?
