Hi, I have had my broswer hijacked before so I don't know if this is an old issue that has been hiding or if it has happened again. I have current Norton Antivirus running, start page guard running, Spybot, Zone Alarm, all Microsoft updates are current. I am mainly getting popups even though I have my security setting at high. Also, when I open up Norton, I notice alot of clicking like someone is clicking the buttons trying to change something. One time when I opened up Norton, it said Auto Protect was off. I will attach my hijack this logfile in hopes that one of you can help me. I am not very computer savvy, so you will have to make sure that the instructions are clear. I have gotten 8 different popups while typing this message. Thanks in advance - Julie

Please read the announcement and sticky threads. HJT logs should only be posted when requested and then they must be attachments to your message. You must also use the proper version of HijackThis and you must install it properly. You were running a very old version and you were running it directly from the ZIP file. Please run the steps below.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem, boot into normal mode and make sure you follow these directions:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

Hi, sorry that I missed the sticky notes and posted my log incorrectly. I was getting so many popups and was very frustrated and just jumped the gun. When I get home from work this evening, I will start running the steps and see what happens. Thank you very much.

Okay! If the steps in the READ ME FIRST do not cure your problems, make sure you follow the steps properly for using and posting HijackThis logs.
