Hey, I've recently started to do some web design/development/webmaster work and am considering pursuing it as a career. I'm going to be building my own PC as well as purchasing the Adobe Creative Suite Web Standard package(Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Flash etc.). My need as far as performance goes is basically I need it to be able to run those programs since it's for work. I will also want to play a few games, but I'm sure if it can run Fireworks CS3 and the other CS3 products it will be able to run the games I'll play.

I'd like help choosing parts for this PC. Originally I wanted to keep it around a $800 budget, but that quickly went up to around $1200. A lot of these parts were recommended to me by a couple of people on another forum. Some of the items(keyboard, mouse, etc.) don't really matter but I'll include them in the list since I will need them and they do effect the total cost. Anyway, here is the list I came up with. Tell me what you think.

    New list:

    case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811208005

    keyboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16823126012 (doesn't matter)

    ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145034

    mouse: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16826104031 (doesn't matter)

    hard drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822148140

    motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128059

    dvd drive/burner: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827151153

    monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16824009088

    speakers: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16836121127 (doesn't matter)

    operating system: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16832116202

    graphics card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130319

power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductRevie...N82E16817153052 (unless you think it will just fry on me or now be able to power the other parts I've selected, then I'd like to keep it in this price range)

    processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115029

    wireless card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16833124139

I've edited this list a couple of times and added a few higher end parts, which I thought would have raised the total up quite a bit, but I'm still getting less than $1,200 when I add it all up so please help me spot any parts I'm missing. Thanks for reading.

I would have rather seen a list of parts than a list of links. Other folks with slower web connections will probably choose to not even comment due to all the links. I tried a couple, but got an error at Newegg saying the page or product couldn't be located or had been moved....
    :( Sorry, I tried.

Awesome, wouldnt change a thing. Looking good.

Well actually, i'd get a different case but hey that's where uniqueness comes into play. However lower quality cases tend to be cheaply made (panels break, paint sucks, lots of plastic) and have poor airflow. Plus, nice cases tend to have handy little gadgets built in to make building your rig easier and look cleaner. Antec, Thermaltake and Lian-Li are good case makers that come to mind

EDIT! Something else you may want to consider: the first thing you're going to find yourself needing to upgrade is RAM. I've found Vista to use ~700mb AT IDLE. I would go with a 2x2gb kit. 2 gigs will work just fine but you'll be happier with 4 gigs

pretty good price, considering you are getting everything, including monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc... might want to up the powersupply to maybe over 600w, just to be sure and ive read good reviews about g-skill and adata memory on new egg, which you could get 4gb (2x2gb) for cheap(er)

Thanks for everyones help. I will definitely take your suggestions into consideration. I'm mainly thinking about selecting another psu. Any suggestions on one? Obviously I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible, but better to spend a few more bucks in the beginning than a lot of bucks in the end(if it were to go out or something).

Also, on a side note.. What about warranties? Could the lack of the entire system being warrantied become a big deal, or do you think that Neweggs replacement policy is good enough? I noticed that some things can be replaced up to a year, even though some have to be within 30 days.

Edit: Someone on another forum suggested PC Power and Cooling brand.

    how about a PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610 EPS12V EPS12V 610W Continuous @ 40°C Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, cUL, CE, CB, TUV ?

link may or may not work... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703005

wow I dont know how I missed the PSU specs. Yeah definitely get a more powerful one. PCP&C makes GREAT power supplies. They were also just bought by OCZ which also has a great rep for good PSUs so you get double the goodness lol. That one you chose would be perfect for your setup.
