I have a few Bluray movies on my computer that are in (mkv,mp4) format. I was wondering if I'd be able to burn these files onto a blank DVD-R disc. The files are roughly around 550MB. If so, what software?

They aren't actually blurays. They are just bluray RIPS. I have a burner on my computer but not sure if it will burn movies that are .mp4/.mkv.

Yes, you can copy those files onto a DVD. If you want to use this disc on a standalone DVD player, you will need either a DVD player capable of playing mp4/mkv files or you will need to convert these to DVD Video format using a DVD conversion program like DVD Flick.
