I have a cable modem(toshiba pcx1100u) which was installed by time warner cable, via lan card....i upgraded motherboard, which has a lan card onboard, and finally got the modem to cannect to the internet. It is installed via the usb cable connection, and all is fine, except for one baffling little idiosyncracy, which neither earthlink tech support or TWC have been able to figure out...
IPCONFIG used to give all kinds of useful information...but now it looks like this:

looks to me like something is amiss....I unplugged the modem and cycled it, as well as powering down the entire system, and while it changes slightly, i get pretty much the same thing, nothing that even resembles an ip address, yet my connection is wrking....how odd....
    any ideas guys?

And all you have is a modem and your onboard ethernet port?

    No Router or anything extra?
