    Hi

Dont know anything off hand using a PC, but could use a mobile or have friend call you. But reason for posting was to ask what country are you in as if someone knows of a service it maybe country specific.

I do remember that virtually if not all Windows versions have Dialer.exe which can make calles but forget if you need to have a DUN modem connected to do so, maybe some info HERE (it is present in Vista and Windows 7, but cannot test as I dont have a DUN model anymore)

Skype or a similar program is probably your best bet as it will allow you to call any number anywhere on the globe, although all calls will be charged at local rates so you must have credit on your Skype account.

Is this literally true call any number anywhere on the globe or is it only the top most popular countries. How about Sierra Leone in West Africa? Normal rates to call to there are real expensive as most calls are to mobiles only as there is not a very good landline system. :cry

I have used this program in the past and yes, I've used it more than once to call cell numbers from my PC (including my own, because I misplace things a lot and had the need to locate my cell LOL) It has been a while since I used it but it worked and the clarity was clear when talking to a friend.

The only thing I might add, is that you are only allowed free 5 minute phone calls. If you wish to use it for longer they have plans, the cheapest being $9.99 for unlimited.

Edit: They also give you your own number in which people can call you on, which I believe is also free.

Yes, that's true, but discussions have a way of evolving to related areas, as this one has. I think we've not only answered OP's question, but answered bigbazza's question as well, and provided a lot more information also. So I think that's great!
