No majorgeek here, more like major moron! All of a sudden when I try to read my e-mail, whether it be in Outlook or Outlook express, I only receive the first 6 e-mails then I get the following message: "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop.comcast.net', Server: 'pop.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '+OK', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F"

    If I delete those 6 e-mails, & click on receive e-mail, I get the same 6 e-mails over again. I am running Windows XP Pro, Outlook 2000 v. 9.0.0.2711

I did try to do system restore, but apparantly I must have had an improper shutdown because no matter what point I choose, after it goes through the entire boot up process, I get a message that it could not restore. I read in this forum that this could be caused by improper shut down. I did a manual retore point today, and then went back & restored to that point and that worked fine. But couldn't go back any further than today. Anyways, the main problem I would like to solve is the e-mail issue.

I run Mcafee anti virus with latest updates & Ad aware 6.0

Thanks for the help guys/gals. I am off to figure out what is going on. I will post back with the results.

Alrighty then! wnet into Norton and disabled scan incoming mail, & this stopped the problem. Never had this problem before, so now I will trt to figure out why this happened. If anyone is familiar with this problem, pleae feel free to comment. The link that was reccommended for Norton explains how to configure the accounts. Just puzzled why all of a sudden I have this problem.

You're running McAfee and Norton at the same time?

That's not a good idea, I would disable Norton completely and just run McAfee.

Apparantly you missed my first post - I admitted to be "major moron"! I am only running Norton, Sorry for the confusion. But I appreciate your trying to help. I found this site by accident, and for someone that is computer challenged as myself, this will be quite a big help for me. Thanks to all that contribute to this board.:D

Kaula: Yes my problem was solved by disabling Norton. Haven't had the chance to enable and then check e-mail. But I did notice the seventh e-mail was blank. Perhaps that had someting to do with the problem. I received a few great suggestions. Can't thank you guys enough!

[EDIT] Attachment removed! MA edited your earlier post....pornographic images ARE NOT permitted here. DO NOT post such images again. AbbySue[/EDIT]

WFFL: not to be mean, but the mods do try to run a family friendly site, you might want to take down that pic on your own accord rather than have a mod do it for you.
