Cannot boot from CD - Error Code 5

I have a Gateway 818GM running Windows 7 32-bit. I ran into some issues upon booting up and got a message saying "Boot manager failed to find OS loader."

I am trying to run Windows Repair with my Windows 7 Installation Disk and I keep getting the message "Cannot boot from CD - Error Code 5.

So at this point, I am unable to get Windows to launch and I can't get to DOS. What should I do next? Try to create a boot disk? IDK I do have a HP laptop that has Windows 7 32-bit on it. Can I copy some files off of it? I also have a new Gateway DX4300 running Windows 7 that I am typing from, however, it is a 64-bit machine. I also have a custom build with Windows XP. Any help or advise would be appreciated.

Yes I tried this with a Vista disk and I did not get the option to Repair it wanted to go straight into the install. Looking for a Win 8 D/L.

 

So I am unable to find any Windows 8 Preview D/L at this late date. Looking for another solution.

 

Have you tried booting from an USB stick? I've been using USBs for years now, once that I read somewhere (and tried it for myself) that USB installs tend to be faster than CD/DVD installs. Besides my PC doesn't have a disk tray so there is no other option for me.
