Ok I installed this new card yesterday & while all seems to work just fine, I get this error when I boot up, when it clearly shows the card in the Display Properties.

So I guess the obvious question is.......

Is this something to do with it not showing up as a MSI FX 5900XT & just as GeForce FX 5900? Like I said everything works as one would think, but this error comes up on boot. Any ideas?

At the risk of sounding like a smarta**. It does show what drivers I'm running on the 3rd pic. hehe 61.82's I've also run the 61.11's & the 61.77's same thing.

    Ok just for reference....

    3D Mark 03 - 4342
    3D Mark 2001 - 11598 < was getting that much with a Ti4200? Just over 10,000 with a Ti500.
3D Mark 05 - Absolutely pathetic. I don't want to post that one. lol
Shouldnt these be a tad higher. Even though I have the monitor @ 85hz, after running any of the forementioned benchmarks, it states that the refresh rate is 60hz. I go into the Display Properties & it's still set too 85hz, but the benchmark programs show it as 60hz. What's up with that?

Running Battlefield Vietnam I'm getting 90-110fps with some small drops. 1024x768 32bit all graphics set to High. So I'm not actually complaining & I do realize that benchmarks don't really tell you how it will perform in an actual gaming enviroment. I just wonder why it's not doing better.

All drivers are updated as well. Latest BIOS bla bla bla.

Oh come on someone has to know something about this. I've done about everything I know to do & nothing, it's still there. At this point I don't even care why it's doing, I just want the popup to go away when I boot. It's annoying. lol Whatever it is ain't hindering the card in any way as far as I can tell.

    Please please please someone.

hmm sorry to hear your problems bud...
my suggestion (s) is to uninstall the drivers (throught device manager) and then let windows find it again
also maybe try doing a repair install ? :(

    hoped i helped!

    Hmm.

You got VSync on? That should increace your bench scores some... but thats still a bit low for a 5900XT. I get about 12,000 on 2001 with my Ti4200....

    Weird....

Nope V-Sync is off. I'm still pulling a solid 100+fps in Battlefiled Vietnam in a full room of 64 people & the ingame graphics all on High, so that's not an issue. It's this error thing that has me wondering.

I have tried 4 different versions of drivers, the 61.11's, 61.72's, 61.77's & the 61.82's, which doesn't help at all. I uninstalled the card each time from Safe Mode, then ran NFR ( Nasty File Remover ) to make sure nothing was left behind. I even made sure to remove Coolbits.

I'm able to overclock 485/970 up from 400/850 without any noticeable artifacts or those annoying little sprites in the corners of the screen. Not running at those settings, was just testing how far it would go. hehe

I would just recomend for you to unistall the drivers on Save Mode and then restart...and install the drivers from the CD that came with your Graphics Card.....Then if you get in install go to WindowsUpdate and see if they have an update on your driver....

I had a similar problem and I did it this way and worked....

doesn't nvidia have some sorta tray app that loads when windows starts up? you could try disabling that if it does exist ... could it be that is having trouble communicating with the graphics card? ... or a faulty registry entry? .. there are some registry tweakers you might try... i couldn't tell you which ones are good though ... they have guides on the net to completely erase all the driver components from windows and apps that do that too

See I was thinking along those lines myself, but as to what it could be is beyond me I guess. hehe I know it's not the Nvidia Settings thingy in the taskbar, as that is turned off. Hmmm I guess my next stop is either MSI or Nvidia huh?
