Cannot run spybot to remove spyware.

My CPU is running at 100% all the time and I have been running Spybot since 7:00 am central time, it is now 7:15 pm, and it is still only 3/4 of the way through.

When viewing my processes, I notice there is a process called "NPFMntor.exe" running and I am unable to stop this. Is there anyway I can get rid of all these problems.

I am running XP Pro, SP2, I have an AMD Duron Processor 897 Mhz with 240 MB of RAM.

I will run Hijack this to see what it says.

What application is using all of your CPU time? If it is System Idle, that is not an application. It is merely idle time for your CPU. If you mean you started a Spybot scan and it is now using all of your CPU, give it some more time. Scans can take a long time especially if you have anything else running and also if you have lots of files. Also you PC is on the slow side by todays standards and also has limited memory. This will also slow things down.

The NPFMntor.exe is part of you antivirus and security suite. See:

HijackThis does not tell you anything! You need to interprete the results yourself. If you are not an expert with PCs, you should not try to interprete the results. Also HJT is far from the first thing we run if a PC has malware problems.
