Help! This is so weird. My computer was frozen so I tried to restart it. I was re-booting it, but the "Starting Windows" screen was taking a really long time. I tried restarting it several times, it did nothing. I tried running the second option it gave me when i restarted, which was something like "run system restore" but that did the same, on a different loading screen. I have a HP Pavillion DV7, and it came with a "Quick Links" screen, before the startup, where I can access an internet browser, mail, calendar and skype. I am using that right now, so I don't understand why I can't go to my regular windows screen? I'm really confused, I tried pressing the delete button and f10 right when I started my screen, but it would be a black screen then my computer would shut down.... My warranty ran out last month, please help?

Tap F8 while booting and see if you can get to safe mode. If you can, try a recovery from there. You also want to backup if you get there. Sounds like a failing hard drive as a first quick guess so scan your drive for errors.

Windows Explorer, right click drive C, check for errors.
