can't connect to friends or search on facebook

I log in to my facebook account without a problem. But then when I type in the name of someone I know or click on the name from the 'search suggestions' the little round loading icon goes around and around but I never get anywhere, or it just goes around endlessly and nothing happens. I can't connect to anyone, nor can I search. I have been having this problem for about two weeks. I try and try and after a lot of trying usually I can do some connecting, but tonight I couldn't connect to friends or search at all. Otherwise the computer is doing fine online. I am just using my usual cable 'hi speed" [ha ha] connection. Again no problems on other sites, just on facebook. I have been reporting this to facebook for weeks, and no one gets back to me and nothing improves. I can't connect to their 'help'.

try to search your friends on another computer or device and see if it works. This will help you determine if it is your pc or facebook itself.

 

The only browser I have used for the past decade is firefox. IE is broken, doesn't work right,would never even open it. Don't really have access to any other computers. As I said, every other site works fine. As well, I opened a twitter account just to see how things went, and had no problems.
